Maiden (salty) Voyage!

Fun day in the sea

After spending the 1st two days of our holiday just chilling out around the caravan. Monday was a nice day, so we all went down to the beach and got wet.
Cerys was more desperate to try her kayak than I was.

Connor learned to body board, and really enjoyed it.

He had a good go at surfing in Cerys' boat, but he's a bit heavy for it now, and it just filled with water.

Cerys tried the body board looks like we'll be buying some new kit for next year.

After getting everyone back up to the caravan, me and Dad went for a little 1st paddle. Leaving Porthsele beach and heading straight to St Davids Head the water was lovely and flat.

There was still and hour or so of South flowing ebb tide, so we headed down toward the North end of Ramsey.
The flow felt almost non-existant as we paddled on, my new Reval Mini felt perfect, the glide was amazing, paddling seemed effortless
Arriving at Bay Ogof Hen, we held back whilst a Rib full of sight seers went deep into the cave.
When we paddled in for a look, we got the soon to become familiar loud snorting and a big warning splash from our first seal encounter. Not wanting to get on the Bulls bad side we left him to it.

Still with some South flow, we ferry glided across toward St Justinians for a little break and to wait for slack water or North flood.

Sitting in the middle of the sound, it was like a mill pond, last time I was here was New years day, in completely different weather.

After having a rest, we headed back North out of St Justinians, and looked in the impressive L-shaped cave.
I've always been impressed with the length of this place, and keep saying I will take a big torch in and have a look at the back.
Leaving the cave we paddled out into the now flooding tide, and had a free ride upto Carreg-gaffeiliog, we had a bit of a play in the overfalls here, and I managed to pick my way through against the flow - all good practice.
About a 6 mile paddle, nice to be out.
The new boat feels great, with the weather forecasts not looking so smart, I hope we can get out more.
